Seeking a highly capable, emotionally intelligent, and trauma-informed support worker to assist a participant in their mid-late 20s living with Level 2 Autism, Complex PTSD, OCD, ADHD, H-EDS, Dysphagia, and Level 4 Endometriosis.
This is not a standard support role. We are looking for someone who genuinely understands the complexity of human behaviour, mental health, trauma, and recovery, someone who can approach distress, emotional dysregulation, and challenging moments with curiosity, compassion, professionalism, and emotional maturity.
About the Role
Can hire as employee, subcontractor, or contractor

2 hour check-in on other days (around 11am-1pm)
Ad hoc distress availability (usually non-face-to-face, unless emergency)

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
Highly organised and reliable
Clean, well-presented, and dresses appropriately for different settings
Trauma-informed and emotionally grounded
Comfortable around complex mental health presentations
Able to remain calm and non-reactive during periods of distress
Flexible and not overcommitted elsewhere
Interested in healing, behavioural understanding, and human psychology
Curious about the “why” behind behaviours rather than judgemental or stigmatising
An understanding of trauma responses, emotional dysregulation, attachment wounds, and behavioural triggers is highly valued. The right person understands that difficult behaviours are often adaptive survival responses, not reflections of character.
Areas of Interest
This role may particularly suit someone studying or interested in:
Psychology
Behavioural Science
Mental Health
Social Work
Counselling
Philosophy or Existential Psychology
Participant Interests
The participant enjoys:
Music
Philosophy

Health and wellbeing
The home also has two cats, so applicants must be cat-friendly.
Important
Due to the acute and complex nature of the participant’s PTSD episodes, this role requires someone who is psychologically mature and not easily overwhelmed by the darker or more distressing aspects of life. A strong capacity for empathy, boundaries, professionalism, and emotional resilience is essential.
This is an opportunity to genuinely help someone feel more connected to their community, supported in their growth, and empowered toward greater independence.
If you believe you would be a good fit, please write a cover letter with some information about yourself, your experience, and why this role interests you.
